The Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce & The Green Plate Café
Whitinsville
The MGCC supported programs were instrumental in laying the groundwork for the process that brought me here.
Danielle was in the banking industry. Although accomplished in her career, her passion focused on fresh, farm-to-table menus and a dream of opening a food truck business.
She came to the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce (BVCC) determined to become a successful entrepreneur. Danielle utilized all services BVCC was able to provide through their Small Business Program, which is supported by the Small Business Technical Assistance Grant Program managed by MGCC. She attended financial and marketing classes, meetings for individualized counseling and took advantage of a MGCC mini-grant award to create her company website. With the technical assistance from BVCC, Danielle worked to grow her food truck into a catering business, then to the ultimate goal of opening her own restaurant.
Today the Green Plate Café, located on Church Street in the Northbridge village of Whitinsville, has become a welcoming place for locals to gather for meals. The area was once the most vital business district in the Blackstone Valley, however over the past two decades it has fallen on hard times leaving many storefronts vacant. Not only has Danielle’s business aided in the revitalization of this community, she has employed three women since opening in November of 2017, two of which were previously unemployed.
